mud tyres, what and where to buy??

Post by hugomonkey »

i need to get some 215 75 15 or 215 80 15 mud tyres in preperation for SP and was wondering who is best for price fitted i can see that i can save about £20-30 pounds per tyre by buying in the UK as the pound is about as strong as the Zimbabwean dollar at the moment, im either looking at the bfg km2s or the hankook rt03s, not quite sure if its worthwhile paying the extra for the bfgs as they are pretty much only going to be used for playing and not daily driving
so whats best and wheres cheapest???

If you're buying mud tyres purely to put on when playing, I'd recommend buying cheap remoulds with an aggressive tread pattern.

Either that or spend time putting together a set of tyres/buying second hand.

If you think you might end up leaving them on the vehicle and driving a fair bit of Tarmac, then I'd steer clear of the remoulds.

No sense in spending loads of money on expensive mud tyres and then tearing them to shreds offroad.

the plan is this year to match my tyres to the job at hand, at´s for daily driving , muds for playing and winter tyres for snow so remoulds may be the way forward :idea

Just had some delivered by Camskill out to Spain. They arrived really quick and delivery was about £15 or £19 I think?

Trouble with the really agressive remoulds is their inability to cover road distance safely. Jury is still out in my camp as I'm thinking the same thoughts.

Decent road tyres for the road. Cheap aggressive mud tyres for the mud.

well.. I have blackstar Guyanes (French remould) and they handle just about everything you can throw at them.. tough too...
They have good road manners too.. which is a surprise... even in the wet they handle well. apart from the horrible noise that sounds like you are on the tube.. ok for short distance.. but tiring on a long trip... done a couple of 200km drives.. but normally they just get put on at an event...
