Tailgate stuck closed

Post by RussT3 »

HELP... Ive gone and shut my tailgate and theres a plastic fuel can wedged against the interior cupboard. The tailgate is now about 1/2 inch from fully closed on the one side. The lock will not release the door. Is there any way to get it open without crow barring it till something breaks causing untold damage? It has central locking (not sure if this makes any difference)

one thing at a time.. you should be able to, dont try hold it in and have a tea break... may be better with 2, onre to press the button as the other gives a good shove in, its the momentary relieving of pressure thats needed

Also worth locking and unlocking again with the central locking as well. Mine has played up a couple of times when it has not shut cleanly.

Cheers brian. In the past ive also had trouble with door not catching properly and being awkward to open again. Cycling the central locking usually does the trick. I will try again in the morning.

Jobs a good un. Thanks for the help guys. I had to reverse to about 4 ft from my house wall, with 2 hands on the wall push tailgate with my feet while the mrs pressed the button. Took about 5 mins of cursing and puffing but managed to get it open.
