Pushrod Tube Cover????

Post by dsoutham »

Hello,

Own an Aircooled t25.

Need some advice regarding a shield/plate that was removed by garage due to rusting and working loose.

The part in question is directly above to the oil filter(3) in the picture below.

Could someone let me know what the purpose of this plate is? Where I might get a replacement? And......

Can i drive the van safely without it till fixed?

Thanks.

they are usualy rusted away i used my van for years with many trips abroad without this part fitted and without any ill effects as the 2.0 Aircooled engine never seems to produce that much heat anyway

Ahhhh, thats what they're called! The pushrod tube cover. The left hand side one is now missing.

Is this bad news?

Easy enough to make one out of ally. The shield also helps direct cooling air so it serves at least two purposes.
