Fridge vent hole.

Hi there ,
My camper had a single fridge vent that is square and has a tube that goes through a hole in the body work,I would like to weld it up because I am only going to be using the fridge on 12v or 240v so I don't need it do I.

Anyway what I was wondering what is the best way to do it?
Should I cut a circle out and weld it in and then weld the small screw holes up?
Or
Should I cut out a square leading from each screw hole and the plate it up like that?

just a thought,

i'm planning on taking mine off as i have no fridge fitted, i'm planning on putting a 2nd hook up point there, to plug in an extension lead to run power into the awning.

There a thought I haven't got a power point at the mo because it went when the fridge panel was replaced ,but I thought it might be to high If I put one there.
What do you reckon ?

fridge still needs fresh air to work properly what ever your powering

Some people mount the electric hook up socket on the back of the rear number plate inspection flap

here's a couple more, the new place for the electric hook up socket is behind the rear number plate saves having another big dirty hole in the bodywork for the tin worm to munch away at...

The vent I am on about is the exhaust vent so it wouldn't be needed .

How are you going to achieve the flow of heat in the boiler tube then? You will still have heat to dispose of via the exhaust irrespective of heating method. (Do you understand how the fridge works?)

I thought you only needed it if you was running on gas,does this mean i need to have the 2 big vent as well?

Yes, otherwise you will not get any cooling air flow over the rear of the fridge.

What about compressor fridge from what I ve read they dontvneed the vents?

You still need cool air to circulate. Think about your household compressor fridge and how warm the rear is, this has the advantage of being in a large space rather than wedged into a tight space between cupboards in a van. They may not need the vents but will work better with them. The heat that you extract from the inside of the fridge has to go somewhere!
