Hello Everybody,
The fuel pump on my 2.1 DJ was getting very noisy. It then started to get problems climbing steep hills. After Swapping the fuel filter it has run much better and the pump was much quieter pumping through a clean filter. One thing that is worrying though- the filter was only 2 years and 16,000 miles old. Is my fuel tank dirty or is this normal?
Graham
fixed my noisy fuel pump

Fuel pump........
Graham,,,,,,,,, You got two years out of a fuel filter !!!! Really that is just about right and due for a change anyway.
Fuel pumps do tend to take quite a bit of stick, so I guess if you have picked up some shyte fuel (contaminated) in the past, and after what you have indicated the damage may have all ready been done.
The only way you are going to find out if your tank is full of crap/rusty or the filler neck is perished, is by having a good old look at it, OR paying some kind soul to do it for you.
Take it easy,
