windscreen wipers slooooow

Post by doivey »

I have a problem with my wipers, they are so slow when being used and with the amount of rain we get it feels dangerous to drive.

Any idea how I can increase the speed, I'm pretty sure they were not this bad last year...

Is the nut on tight that holds the wiper mechanism to the motor?

Remove the glovebox and feel right behind the dash, its a stretch and you will find a nut. It's 13mm. Get a socket on and test it.

Mine went slow then stopped. I assumed this nut had slowly worked loose to the point that friction finally gave up

Isn't the blower motor on the same fuse? could this be the blower demanding too much current....causing a high resistance in the fuse or earth connections.
otherwise...wiper boxes seized up.

this is true on my Westy Martin.

When my blower seized it fused the windscreen wipers.

Oil the spindle under the wiper arm, if it is anything like mine was you can see that it is dry in there with rusty marks around it. Speeded mine up considerably.

Having similar trouble with my wipers atm. Is the wiper motor earth on the main earthing crowns on the chassis, just up from the main fuse box?
