Eberspacher D2L wont turn off

Post by Alfie1990 »

My Eberspacher Heater turns on, and off when just using the fan for circulating air around the van, but when switched to heat mode, it won't turn off. With the switch in the off position the green light remains on and I can hear the pump clicking on and off and the thermostat still operates. I know there designed to over run to cool the unit down, but I've left the unit running for over 30min in the off switch, and the only way I can get the unit to turn off is by pulling the 25amp fuse to the leisure battery.
Has any one got any ideas what's going on?

My van is a 1990, 1.6TD Westy

Thanks
Ady

Hi

I have a similar problem and I am on this site for some insight from the community.

My Eberspracher will not turn off at all. The blower stays on whether I am using the hot air or not. I can disconnect the wiring into it to disable it so the leisure battery doesn't run down. I know that if the leisure battery is low the full power heater will switch off leaving only the smaller blower on which was foxing me before. Now it stays on and won't go off at all!

Other minor symptoms which may or may not be connected:
Gas and water test unit on side of sink not working. Won't light up.
Hook up cable not working

I have a T25 Westy California high top 1990. 1.6 turbo diesel.

Thanks for looking

Paul

Hi Paul,
Glad I'm not the only one with this problem.
Speaking with a fellow Westy owner, he recommends checking the relay to the pump isn't jamming on. That's the silver box next to your charger under the rear seat.
If it's jamming in the on position try tapping it with something like a screw driver.
Unfortunately for me mines working fine so I'm looking at a full strip down and wiring test, unless someone comes up with the cause.

Happy Hunting
