Unwelded Metal Joints

Post by Aberdeenbus »

Hiya,

wondering what folks experiences of various glues and epoxys for sticking and keeping two bits of metal together.

Im thinking specificaly of the alloy that the window regulators are made of i need to bond one to another bit of similar metal.

Cheers

You mean you haven't trawled through the club80-90 Wiki and found this

Then there's the Sika this and the other products that VW use for bonding steel to steel, usually strips, sealing etc.

Syncro-Nutz in Shotts can give you good information on these products, might even stock some.

Whatever you use, cleaning and then degreasing throroughly is important to a lonmg lasting strong bond of course.

Hi all

Yes they are galvanised steel, but in an effort to make some electric windows the motor mechanisms I had were mostly alloy of some kind.
However I have now found some that fit very nicly and are gavanised steel too and as such weld quite nicely along with my audi coupe armrests they are getting together quite nicely pics to follow.

Cheers
