Volvo L3315HT

Post by footstuck »

So as its been mentioned on the thread 'A view from the otherside Caravans at Coney',
and it would seem from comments that some would also risk a bit of flack where impulse buying is concerned
I thought I'd raise a few questions, looking for views on stickey subjects which i have no previous experience with.
To start, has anyone any experience with PTO winches?
I am presuming that you use the clutch to engage the drive once selected. But how do you select forward or reverse?

Thanks mate will check them out
When I drove it to my mates farm, the things that I thought were in desperate need of attention were the steering damper and L/H front shock and the exhaust(which is no longer in existence), so there was no chance of hearing any potential transmission problems. Also the excess brake pedal travel.
All gears selected cleanly and I didn't notice any unexpected back lash through the transmission, though most of my efforts were concentrated on steering it.(its no T25)
And not missing the brake pedal (pin point accuracy needed).

I crept down the farm and had an hour or two on the seized winch and Hey Presto!
It needed a bit of TLC with various sized persuaders, as a seal on the dog clutch had allowed long term water ingress.
A previous owner had bent the sliding dog, failing to remove it.
A few bits to restore to make a good watertight repair and on to the next bit.
