Re: GTI converstion into Bens T25
This looks great, somethingI might consider upgrading my 1.8 mk2 gti engine to someday as I have all the bell housing etc..
Whats the ball park figure to get this job done if all parts and engine provided?
Cheers

Did you have any problems with the intake manifold interfering the chassis rail & side panel.I ike this conversion i had an Auto aircool t25 devon it was a rough van but made it solid. Regretted not fitting this engine as the aircool was heavy on fuel and had no end of problems.

Re: GTI converstion into Bens T25
There are no interference problems with the correct engine, a Passat ADY fits straight in. Passat motors are also cheaper and are not normally thrashed like GTI motors.
I looked at that FB page - they've done 6/7 conversions - that's a bit vague.
You should be able to get it done for under 2000£ and a DIY install is possible for less than 500£.

According to their website T25 direct (thats mr cheese I believe) quote something like 2995 for an aag 2ltr 8v Gti conversion, assuming you have derv running gear already.

Its all straight forward i think just the electrics that i would find daunting. I have a mk2 gti in mine and its all kjet mechanical injection so no messing with electrics.

The electrics are easy if you follow GaryD's diagrams.
I'm just about to finish a replacement loom for my ADY.
I don't like the quality of the present one.

Titus,
if I remember correctly, you had your engine 'professionally' installed didn't you? It seems that the wiring is the favourite area for conversion companies to fall down on.
In my opinion, so long as you are methodical and make proper connections (solder, heatshrink, etc) then there isn't anything too difficult about it. I suppose for a 'professional' outfit it is the time required to be careful that catches them out.

Re: GTI converstion into Bens T25
Yes mine was semi-professionally installed but when you dive down under the looking tape it's not pretty.
He used agricultural sized heat shrink/solder sleeves and put the ECU in the left ear hole.
I now want to fit a Mazda 323f air box in there so the ECU has to go over to the right hand ear hole.
The main reasons I got ,one done by him was my lack of workshop and the TüV testing requirements - he's got a pet tester.
