wiring a fridge

Post by bicolour »

i have just purchased a 3 way fridge and was wondering how you wire in the 240v

was thinking a switched socket or just direct into the fuse box so it comes on when mains hooked up?

any ideas

My three way fridge is connected to the mains by a standard three pin plug that is plugged into a socket that is mounted next to the consumer unit/trip switch in the cupboard that is next to the fridge. My consumer unit has two breakers/trip switches, one for the fridge and one for the "ring main" that feeds the rest of the 240v sockets in the van. I guess it was wired up like that so that if the normal sockets trip the fridge will stay on.

The main trip has been known to flip at times, especially when we have the electric toaster, kettle and fan heater all plugged in at breakfast time!! We do usually remember not to run all three at once and we did buy a low powered kettle and toaster, the fan heater is a 2KW max one with three heat settings.
