Hello

Post by Kalendral »

I'm hoping that someone out there might be able to answer a couple of questions about a g reg reg vw transporter. We've had it for approx. 10 yrs (bought 2nd hand) without any major probs but this week the flywheel has gone. Our mechanic says he can fix it but the place he gets his parts from will charge £600 (not inc. labour) He has said if we can find one online or at a breakers yard cheaper he'll fit it for us. So I'm trawling the internet trying to find a suitable flywheel & so far I've found a 100+ but I'm not sure which ones would be suitable for a g reg, or whether they're pretty much inter-changeable. If anyone has any advice on what I should be looking for, or even where to find one, it would be very gratefully received. Thanks.

Hi,
You need to tell us a bit about your van before we can answer you .......
Engine fuel type and size, transmission type and your location?

I have a flywheel sitting in my stores , if its for the right combination of engine and box .

Assuming your mechanic is correct in his diagnosis, it's not much more than a five hour job.

It's 2100cc petrol with manual transmission. We're based in the Swindon area but could travel a short distance to pick up a part if postage isn't possible. Do you think the part you have would be suitable, if not could you let me know the details of what to look for. Thanks :

You need a flywheel that takes a 228mm clutch.
The one I have is correct,it's not new but its in Lincolnshire and would cost a horrendus amount to post .

Put a wanted advert on here in the wanted section, there are a few breakers in here .

If the op telephones a few of the national couriers I think they will be surprised how little it costs to pick up & deliver a parcel nowadays

I think if the OP put where he's located how helpful people can be at moving stuff about the country

Just noticed Swindon - sorry!

I'm going to Bristol Friday if Mocki / OP want to come to an arrangement.......
