High top roof rack

Post by Gordie 1 »

I want to carry a canadian canoe on the roof of my newly aquired hightop, have been on to Karry Tek who can supply a roof rack ( expensive though) but they need to know if the guttering is original or added by whoever modified the vehicle.
The previous owner does not know who converted her but she was a pop top with canvas before and he just got that replaced with the hightop.
I cannot see any signs of rivets etc but has anyone any idea how i would know for sure ,
Many thanks and Hi by the way,
Gordie .
By the way this is my first campervan and i just love to drive it . :D

I'd be keen to find out how you get on with this. I asked a similar question a while back but did not get much response...

I'll keep an eye on your progress.

Kari Tek can supply one for £ 750-00 but need to know about guttering first , read about them on 'Song of the paddle' I know it's expensive but if it's a one off and if it lasted it would be well worth it, you load on the side and wind it up to the roof, then slide across and secure rack so no heavy lifting or dangerous balancing , there is a video on their webpage. other though was a trailer but would prefer on the roof :D

Went for a trailer in the end, Kari tek couldn't,t get a rack to fit as Bertha is too high , just back from my 1st holiday ( using trailer) how is it that the trailer was full to the gunwales , and we only took what we usually take in the van but the van was full too !!!!
She passed her mot just before we went too :ok
I really enjoy staying in the van and saw a few others in the Arisaig area who all waved back

Hi MM ,
I will try and send a link , don't hold your breath though as I am not too good on this computer , Kari Tek was the company , if you go on their website you will be able to see what I am on about , also there s a video on you tube of a High lift roof rack getting put to use , they couldn't get one to fit because of the shape of my roof , £750 was the quote they initially gave me . Hope this helps a wee bit
