Re: trojan battery
Looks good....obviously won't fit behind the seats so you must have another place in mind?
Cheaper because owners on here often use TWO of the 6 volt versions wired in series.....same but double the capacity as one 12 volt version.
Trojans have a fantastic reputation for having the ability to recover from low discharge situations.

Re: trojan battery
can I still leave it connected to the split charge circuit ? ive got a c-tek intelligent charger that I used to keep the battery charged when on hook up as everything in the van runs off 12v

Yes there are no reasons why the split charge circuit shouldn't be connected apart from the inherent issues of imbalanced charge occurring (the alternator see's the two batteries as one bigger battery so can be tricked into thinking both are fully charged because it is sensing the full charge of the lower capacity starter battery).
Easily rectified with the c-tek independently charging the leisure to full whilst on hookup.....just make sure you do this on a regular basis.

Re: trojan battery
I have a Trojan battery very similar to that one. Really good battery! Lots of power. I put mine under the sink in my '90 Westy and use the space under the seat as "secret" storage.
Just get a black plastic battery box and use a strap to keep it tied down.

Re: trojan battery
I'm suprised you didn't used the tiny cupboard left of the fridge....just the right sized for a big leisure battery (I've got a 110ah in mine) and it's pretty useless for anything else anyway).
I've a 110 in that cupboard and a 72 (Type 100) in the battery box wired in parallel (big 50amp maxi fuse between the two just in case)

trojans will surprise you with their ability to deliver power without charging for long periods.
These are traction batteries and can be really deep cycled... phased charging is a must for these batteries, the C-tek will do that.

Re: trojan battery
My plan is to mount it in a battery box under the bed, am I right in thinking I just earth it to the body and run the live to my aux fuse box ? it won't get much daily use as it will only be powering the stereo, propex when cold and 2 led lights in the rear how often would it need charging ?

Re: trojan battery
I use 2 Trojans wired into a 12v connection. Best thing I ever bought for my van. They paid for themselves times over as never need to pay out for hook up.
Mine are charged by a intelligent split relay (purchased from raw components).
They really take a good beating on power but never let me down.
