Zig CF9B - mains hook up not working

Post by DevonMark »

Can't get the mains hook up to work through our Zig CF9B (as pictured). Lights work fine off the leisure battery, but can't get the plug socket or anything else working from mains when the hookup is connected.

I've checked all of the fuses and they seem fine. Also checked the trip switches, fine too. Tried two different hook up leads.

Anyone else had this problem? Looked thought the Zig manual and doesn't specifically talk about hook up issues, only battery issues.

I could be wrong here (I don't have that exact Zig version myself) but I don't think that the Zig controls the mains power to plug sockets (assuming you mean 'mains' plug sockets).
I think the Zig just takes the mains power, converts it to 12v and supplies that 12v power to your van.

So, if your 'mains' plug sockets in the van are not working then it is probably a problem with the mains power, not the Zig.

As all van 'mains' wiring methods seem to be different, it is hard to advise - do you have 'mains' circuit breakers in the van somewhere .... ??

av u ad a look?

http://www.club80-90.co.uk/pages/downloads/docs/Zig.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

or -
go to club stuff at top of page -
and downloads -

:ok

or -

and i'm really not sure about this - and would not want you to fry yourself the van immediate neighbourhood - so hopefully a more knowledgeable poster will chime in n tell you if its workable -

get one of these -

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MAINS-HOOK-UP ... 56498df16a" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

take a reel cable out to the van - from yr house - plug in adaptor to reel cable - plug in other end to socket on side of van - turn zig on -
n see if you have power in the van?

We are having a very similar problem.. we have a cf8 zig unit and we plugged into a caravanpark mains in bruges. there was no mains power and we found the 2 amp fuse from the control unit on the floor of the van. It looked like the plastic holder had broken and the fuse popped out, but the actual fuse looked ok. We just now replaced the 2amp casing unit and put in a new 2amp fuse but no joy. Everything else works in the van apart from the mains socket.

This is our first (and already much loved) campervan, so i've no idea if we or where we might have a mains circuit breaker somewhere- I'm going to go and check the main van fuses under the dash, but i would not have imagined that the feed for mains power would in anyway pass through the vehicle electronics...?

Could do with some advise on what else we can check - its bloody cold out and it would be wonderful if we could get power for our space heater!

dansk - if you add your van type, age etc to your post then people with that van might be able to assist.
You'll need to trace the mains wire from where it enters the van until you find the breaker, or alternatively trace back from wherever your mains socket is in the van - it'll be in there somewhere??
Have a look under the bed, in all cupboards etc etc .....

Correct - that Zig has nothing to do with sockets, I have a CF9 in one of my vans. The mains is purely for the charger and fridge.

Midlifecrisis - it's a 1989 transporter Komet.. soz, this is my first time posting here.. and I feel like a right dime bar as I found the mains fuses half hour later.. like you said, it was tucked away in one of the cupboards, and one of the flip fuses had flipped - so all good on the electrical front. Many thanks!
