1.6td question?

Post by spitefulbarber »

hi, I've tried searching first but no luck so far, does anyone know exactly what cc the 1.6td engine is?
I'm looking into updating my log book as its a 1.7 on log book, and it's got a 1.6td in it.
If it's 1549cc or under it'll be £130 per year not £220 I'm paying now?
Most sites say 1600cc obviously i'm hoping it's a guestimate.
thanks for your help
Stephen.

Bugger, thanks for the fast reply.
Well worth the question though!
I'm waiting for the day it packs in to upgrade to 1.9td
But apart from putting in 2l of oil every 6 weeks its going strong.
Thanks again.

Are you sure it's not a 2 stroke?

So what mileage do you do every 6 weeks?
As 2 litres represents about 43% of the oil capacity I would top it up more frequently otherwise additional damage will occur (minimum mark on the dipstick is less than 1 litre from max) NEVER LET THE LEVEL DROP BELOW THE MIN MARK.

I'd get a new breather valve too if it's using that much oil

sorry guys for the late reply.
when i say 2l oil per month thats when the vans use is in demand during summer months.
no leak just burning some.
im not too bothered about it, like i said its just checking oil and water regular waiting for it to go boom,
so a 1.9 td can go in.
thanks guys.
i have got other issues with the engine though, but thats another story.
get back if you fancy your grey matter tested about the coolant side of life?
