Looking for tips on fitting Starter

Post by IainGie »

It's a 1989 1.6td, I removed the old starter easy enough. Basically, disconnected battery and from the engine compartment I reached in and disconnected the spade connector on the solenoid, removed the lower bolt on the clutch slave bracket, removed the two mounting bolts, swung the clutch bracket back out of the way.

I then removed the starter and passed it through into the engine compartment and disconnected the cable from the battery.

I'm waiting for delivery and I'm planning the install. Just wondering what is the best order to reconnect, in terms of the best access. I've heard that removing the RHR road wheel gives easier access to the connections?

Just wondering if folk connect the cables then fit the starter, or is the access easy enough from below?

Any advise appreciated :D
