Washer jets problem
Hi, can anyone help me please?
My passenger side MY VAN IS LHD by the way, won't push any water out through the jets.
It was painted over, I tried putting a pin in it but nothing.
Heard about pug 307 jets will fit, so decided to spend £10 on making an improvement.
Got them home, trimmed a little off here and there and didn't even lose the pipe inside the panel I've heard so many warnings about. Guess what, still don't work????
Took it back off and gave the pipe a blow thinking I might feel a blockage with my mouth. But no.
Had a look inside the van under he rubber mats and the floor is wet?
I guess my main question is, if the pipe is unattached somewhere inside will that cause water to come in? Or a I unearthing other problems?
Many thanks in advance
Stephen.

Re: Washer jets problem
If you remove the jet completely, does the water come out of the bare pipe, when you pull the lever? If not, then the pipe is the problem. if it does, then it's the jet.

Re: Washer jets problem
Thanks for the reply , I'm guessing nothing is gonna come through the pipe, with it being a new nozzle or jet, it's also raining now, so ill try to look tomorrow. I'm thinking about food colouring the water in the washer bottle to see if the pipe is leaking into the cab. Probably be a good idea at the time, but regret it as soon as I do it. Lol
Cheers.
Do you know what I should be expecting if the pipe is the problem? Like how hard it would be to sort it out?

Re: Washer jets problem
Depends where the pipe has detached itself or split.
You could be lucky and find that it is in an accessible place, but if it's further up you could be looking at taking out the dash.
Taking out the glove box and having a look under the dash may give you more Pre-dash removal access.

Re: Washer jets problem
Thanks, I wonder if that's causing the wet floor issue?
As to looking for the split or damaged pipe, tomorrow I'm on it.
Cheers

leaky windscreen seal causes water on the floor or under the mat

Re: Washer jets problem
just found that out, I ran a wooden washing peg under in both corners and loads of gunk came out.
also though i could get the seal out, and re-seal but drastically failed.
but also wondered would the seal go back in ok?
cheers dude, also if you got any tips on seals let me know (removing and refitting)?
stephen
im also gonna read threads on the forum in a sec.
note to self, a few old clothes pegs and wooden spoons didn't help much.

Re: Washer jets problem
The seal is an H-shaped rubber, with the metal in one "inlet" of the H, and the glass in the other. It's all that's holding the glass in, not like a modern bonded screen, where the glass is glued to the metal and the rubber is just a finishing piece that can easily be fished out.
So, to remove the seal, the glass has to come out too. Once it's out, though, you'll certainly see what the real situation is behind it...
One thing at a time, though - have a proper check-out of the washer plumbing. It'll either fix your problem or rule it out.

Re: Washer jets problem
Cheers again guys.
I have got water coming in through the seals it seems.
I'm gonna go down the route of a backhander down the pub for a off duty auoglass guy.
I'll keep you informed.

Re: Washer jets problem
Weld, I'm hoping for a little surface rust a bit of wet and dry will sort out.
I'm highly optimistic about things.
Regarding the seals, not spoke to anyone yet, about actual work.
Keep you posted about it.
Cheers.
