watercooled to air cooled engine swap
hi i have just found an 1.6 petrol Aircooled engine forsale and was wondering if it would be a straight forward swap for my 1.9 petrol engine as mine is knackered.cheers dave
its better to burn out than to fade away 1.9 dg petrol transporter1988

From watercooled to 1.6 Aircooled....serious?
Why oh why would you even consider fitting what is renowned for being the worst engine VW ever fitted in a T25?
There's been numerous 1.9DG's for sale on here and elsewhere so why not buy one of those?

That would be a serious mistake for an number of reasons including: 1) The 1.6aircooled was ok powering a beetle but a T25 is at least twice that weight. How long would you expect that engine to last? 2) How slow do you want to go? With a 1.6 Aircooled engine that will be very slow, particularly on hills. Trust me I had one of these in my old T2 and it was a nightmare even on the gentlest of slopes. Your choice.

thanks for the replys,i will give that a miss.missed a few engine recently so i will still be looking for a 1.9 dg,thinking of going for a recon from one of the major players anyone had any experience from any of them,thanks dave

be carefull buying a recon motor most of them the quality is nothing like the original vw unit if you must have a wbx marco mancini is your man
