Urgent help needed - carburettor

Post by Ralf85 »

My van is in for a service and MOT today and it has been found that the rubber 'carb mounting flange' VW part No 025129761 for my Pierbug carb on my DF engine has cracked and I need a new one. Brickwerks told me that they don't have any and they are not available out there at the moment. Has anybody got one in their collection of spare bits? Cheers.

It it is just cracked you can repair them temporarily with polyurethane sealant. Clean the flange with petrol or carb cleaner and then spread the seal thickly all around it making a new outer skin.

Cheers mate. VW Heritage are out of stock as are all other suppliers right now. Brickwerks reckon they are not available right now. A temporary fix is one thing but I have a 2000 mile round trip coming up in a few months so I really need a permanent fix. Thanks again.

Has anybody got one lying around somewhere?

I think I have tracked one down. If all goes well I will let you know where to get one. It is an important bit of kit and will affect the performance of the carburettor if not replaced.

I googled my way methodically (what a fag!) through so many 'suppliers' and I did not find one for that price that was actually in stock. I will come back to this in more detail if and when the part actually arrives (what a pessimist).
