power steering leaking?

Post by chrisevans »

I peeled back one of the boots on the power steering rack yesterday and a tiny bit of fluid dripped out. Is that residual?
Or do I have a problem?

ATF shouldn't be getting into the rack gaitors!...
The ram seals must be leaking and unfortunately it sounds like the rack needs a rebuild.......

I seem to remember Simon (Brickwerks) selling the kits (ZF L/H/D rack)

the rubber seals over time can shrink and dry out sort of. if it is a only a drip you can get a treatment made by wynns which causes them to swell slightly, gives them a bit more life. it is about £9. i belive halfords or most factors can supply it. you just add it to the fliud and thats it .
hoer that helps a little
