Rock n Roll bed fixings

Post by bootie3367 »

I have carried out a search but after looking through all 41 pages I didn't find the answer, I also trawled through the Wiki and the tech help, again, not what I was looking for.

Today I took out the 3/4 R n R bed from my Hi top westfalia. I needed to take the foam off so it can be recovered and the easiest way to take out all those staples was to take it out of the van.
So after undoing the bolts at the side I went to the back and saw that all that was securing the hinge back legs/straps were a couple of small self tappers! and I mean small, 3/4" long and about 1/8" dia!!! Aye and only one per side....

Can somebody with a similar setup put up or send me a picture of how the rear part of the hinges are secured in your van.
I will not be putting it back with just self tappers I can tell you, unless of course that is what is supposed to be there?????.....

cheers

Now that the covers are finished I am about to re-install the 3/4 bed. I found that one of the fastening holes is direct into the rear arch so that is no problem fitting a nut and bolt arangement with a nice big strengthening washer, but the other is, or looks like it is in the chassis member, I have yet to investigate exactly where. Pictures to follow though.
I really don't want to use a self tapper as there is nothing holding it in bar the thickness of the floor pan at the rear.

Any Ideas/pictures?

Jon

E D I T. After further investigation the second fixing point is accessible, it was only the sound absorbing material preventing the probe from showing underneath.
