Sliding door - extra handle?
My kids sometimes struggle to slam the sliding door hard enough for it to shut properly. The latch handle doesn't really allow you to get a good grip. Has anyone fitted an additional handle to this door? Any reasons why it shouldn't be done?

Re: Sliding door - extra handle?
Hi,
We have two extra handles fitted to the top edge (just under the window) of the sliding door to help you pull the door shut, this was fitted by PO as the back end of the door needs to be pulled in when shutting.
I was going to replace them with a std VW grab handle (like the one fitted in the cab near the windscreen) but they are too big to go in the gap when the door is opened.
Was there an original VW handle fitted to the sliding door before the conversion was done (1982 Devon)???

Pete

Re: Sliding door - extra handle?
I have to be honest, I never allow any of my kids to shut/open sliding door. I get out and do it. Just too easy for small fingers to be lost. Mind you, I tend to do that for all passengers regardless of their age. I assist whether they're getting in or out. Much safer.

Youngest is twelve, so I'm quite happy for them to shut the door. But they can't give it enough of a pull to shut it properly.

Ah, you need to adjust it, i know what your saying ,but if you have to pull the rear in to latch it then it may be worth looking at that, it only needs to be a touch out and it then requires considerable effort

MM,
Yes, I think it is an early door; it has a long door handle
