ABS Syncro information required

Post by Aidan »

I've got a customer's van in for a gearbox job, it's a non locker and we're converting the gearbox to difflock, Jason has supplied the necessary loom stuff and I have the difflock diff and case, so far so good, straightforward, BUT I've just discovered the bus has the rare ABS factory fitted so I'm wondering how the two systems are interlocked

so if anyone has any wiring diagram for the abs system, the VW manual for the ABS system or any other useful information please let me know as Bentley doesn't seem to cover it at all - least not the paper one, I haven't checked the pdf version yet.

our colleagues over the pond especially may have the technical information, please do share it, thanks :ok

I seem to remember reading a long time ago that ABS doesnt work in G and if a difflock is actuated.. (G could be speed related tho.. most ABS dont work at low speed.)
so I would assume there are 2 switches (switch modes) gear lever and any of the difflock lights..
Pulling the fuse would dissable abs, so assume there would be a relay or 2 that drops power to the ABS unit..
Of course.. there could be a clever input signal for the ABS ECU that tells it not to operate rather than just dropping the power to it..

Does Ekta list any special parts??

Just seen this Aidan, you're probably sorted now but if not let me know, got all the diagrams here. You want No. 60.

Not looked at it before, so was interested to note that ABS on vehicles with 4x4 features a 'warning buzzer for excess road speed' Maybe there's a few on here that could do with one of those
