vw diesel- number 1 cylinder ?

Im fitting all the bits on my AAZ engine but i need to know what end no1 cylinder is, is it the fly wheel end ?

and can anyone confirm the firing order is 1342 ? many thanx Dave :ok

all sorted !, Number 1 is the pulley end . :D
