Anti roll bar drop link question
As usual I managed to snap off the bottom of the drop link when I tried to undo it.
I bought one before from BW but they aren't on the web shop so I presume they are out of stock. ( email sent)
I need to fix this ASAP as we are going away in it Friday. I'm sure I have heard people running without an anti roll bar. Is this safe? No way would I endanger my family or other road users.
Does anyone have a cranked drop link for sale or even to lend me to help me out until I can source a new one pllease?

Re: Anti roll bar drop link question
if you´ve got some tools at hand then take it off, drill it and tap it and screw a bit of threaded bar in, you wouldn´t notice its not there its mainly in an emergency that it comes into its own as it pushes the wheel down on the high side as you swerve and gives you better contact with the road, so not a danger to drive with but of course its there for a reason, if you cant get one let me know and i´ll bring one over on tuesday/wednesday

Tom, a day for breaking things I think...... Currently in pub waiting for recovery home , clutch went south. Anyway I did the same to my drop link. Ashley ( alewing) drilled it out and dropped in some threaded bar ( a bolt) and drilled through the side of the bar and plug welded it in . Good as new .

That's what I had heard but really is it safe to do so? Would there not be legal implications if you was involved in an accident?
I'm going to drill mine out and weld in a peace of stud as I don't have a tap of the required size.

I'm going to try that too.
It was good to meet up with everyone but a shame I had to bail early.

Just take the whole thing off Tom if you've not got time before you need to get away.
Sort it at your liesure when you return.
You get your CV sorted ok?

The shaft is on the table just need to pick a new boot tomorrow.
After a couple of minutes driving on the road it stopped clicking and was fine on full lock etc. Do you think it would be okay to pack it with grease and new boot?
Cheers for the pointers.

Re: Anti roll bar drop link question
Best to disassemble, clean it up and have a good look at the races, bearings and the cage.
If any of the races or bearings have any pits/scoring then ditch it. Same with the cage, often these split/crack which can also be a source of the clicking noise.
If all of it looks ok, then repack it and put it back on.
just be very careful to make sure you put it back together the right way. Make careful note of how it comes apart!

Re: Anti roll bar drop link question
We have some on order, however our masters have gone walkies during the move.
The machine shop won't make any until we find samples so at the moment we're a bit knackered until the samples turn up or we buy some more.
Soz like.

I had the original early sample still in the drawer up until a year ago when it went to Army Phil, who's never here now, bet he hasn't fitted it yet
