First problem - it's raining, inside!!

Post by Pwag20 »

Well thought all was going too well this far but found my first real problem. I have a puddle which is making the rear cushion wet. It seems to be pooling in the rear nearside corner and spreading around that side of the engine bay cover. I can't work out where it's getting in and know its not likely to be where it is lying. Have searched around for similar problem threads but drawing a bit of a blank. Any suggestions please?

I used captain tolleys creeping crack cure. Just buy a small amount and run it around where the window seals meet the frame. If should fix if unless the seals are really bad.

I have a bit of precipitation problem too, but mine is the skylight. Just waiting for the Sikaflex to be delivered to seal her back up again. Good luck with fixing yours: let's hope the creeping crack cure works - sorry that's sounds a tad smutty

Ha ha. Only if your smutty mind works that way ;) good luck with yours too! Still, if we discover and solve any problems now then come summertime we should be good to go and (hopefully) trouble free ....!?

I have a Fixed High top T25 and I too have a leaking roof vent. I'm sure the leak is coming in through the sealant that I used when I replaced it last year with a virtually identical new one from Towsure and sealed it to the fibreglass roof using some mongrel brand window sealant that I had left over from a previous household job. I was dead pleased with myself at having made such a neat and satisfactory job.

I'm beginning to regret using that sealant now as I wonder if it could affect the Acrylic plastic of the skylight or the Gelcoat of the fibreglass roof.

I know that for Acrylic Conservatory Triple Wall Roof Sheets a Low Modulous Sealant should be used.

Any Ideas? The fitting instructions were almost non existant with no mention of sealants to be used. I expect the removal to be a bit of a battle with possibly a broken Roof Vent or damaged roof.

The things we do for love eh?

I have ordered a tube of sealant called Sikaflex - supposed to be the bees knees for caravans, campers, marine uses etc.......we shall see after I have resealed the skylight and we have had another torrential downpour - living in Wales I shouldn't have to wait long
