Broken door handle

Post by dollyvan »

The passengers side inside door handle will not open the door. Is it east to fix by taking the internal cover off the door? Any tips?

I have exactly the same problem with my 86 t3. I think the locking rod has jumped out of its guide hole but have not got round to taking the panel off yet. It seems like that would sort it, so if you have more time on your hands let me know how it goes.

If the rod from the locking button has come adrift then the door can still be unlocked by key from the outside and then the internal handle will open the door so possibly the rod from the internal door handle has come adrift. Either or, the door card will have to come off to access the relevant mechanism. You may have to remove the actual lock itself so you'll need a bluddy beefy phillips screwdriver
