expansion tank needed??

Post by Petesara »

Hi All,
Bought a part restored van with Subaru EJ20 engine, have managed to get everything connected and the engine to run, problem I have is that there is a header tank fitted but nothing else, when it gets hot all the water is pushed out, should the pipe be connected to an expansion tank? if so what do I need, photos appreciated.
If this is correct then any advice would be appreciated.

yes there should be a top up tank at the end of a hose connected to the darlek cap so the engine can help itself to coolant when it cools down, originally positioned half behind the rear flap but with the scooby it won't fit there I think cos of the cam belt cover, peeps make up a bracket and move it to somewhere there is space.
I have several here if you want a preloved one, they are fitted with two M6 machine screws

I haven't yet completed an scooby instal so haven't figured out where to put it so no pics I'm afraid.
