do a search for headlight mod - there are plenty of threads - aint the bulbs its the voltage drop

Poor earth....excessive voltage drop across the switch gear....poor connections generally.

Im sure its all in the wiki up the top^^^^ the amount of connections from the battery to the bulb gives the volt drop, that and poor earths!

All of the above, and then invest in a pair of the modern 50% (or whatever) brighter bulbs (often 2 for 1 at halfords) and it's like a modern car all of a sudden! Beware of illegal brighter bulbs though, and buy reputable ones.
