Capri Engine
I was talking to machanic mate about putting a different engine in my camper. He told me about a mate who put a 2.8 capri engine in his T25! Any one know of one or have an opinion?
If in doubt give it a clout!

Re: Capri Engine
There's better/lighter more modern engine conversions out there to be honest...and one's that don't need an adaptor plate making up/buying or the engine bay height altering.
Plenty of info in this very section of those conversions.

Re: Capri Engine
I had one in mine, went like stink till it lost 2 cylinders.
Also know someone else who had the same. We both had similar problems. Cooling is a nightmare, these engines run hot and in a van, overheat easily.
Also they can be buggers to start. The old Bosch fuel injection is good when it works, but problems are common and new spares are non existent. Avoid.

Re: Capri Engine
If you are going to the expense of an engine conversion, you should at least put in a better engine than a Capri one.
So any options out there now

Re: Capri Engine
Yea I know where you are coming from. I have a 2L air cooled which is now finished but it is soooooo slow and thirsty. I dont mind paying for fuel if I get good performance. I think it would be a shame to take out the Aircooled engine and I enjoyed doing the camper up. I am no machanic so I was looking at options so to get a tatty van with the engine already done could be a good move for me. If I get a van to do I would need someone to fit an engine for me. I have been looking for a few monthes and this is the first I have seen for sale with an alternative engine. Saburu would be nice i just havnt seen one for sale at a low price with work to do.

Re: Capri Engine
easiest option just get your original engine rebuilt to 2400cc not cheap but will give you the performance you want without any hassles of adding radiators heater matrix water ppes etc ,

Re: Capri Engine
Thanx for that but far too big a job for me! Will keep looking. I just want a bit more poke and better mpg as I use camper every day for work. Mrs always has the car! May even go down the diesel route! boring I know. I have lpg in my car and is a pain as it isnt easy to get by me so dont particually want to go there. I like the idea of having the Aircooled made into 2.5l. How much more power would there be and how would the mpg work out 17/18 at the mo on 2.0L. How much would it cost and who could do it?
