Leisure battery charging

Post by MrBarbecue »

Ho do folks,
Just chose an 81 Westy as my trusty steed. And i couldnt be happier with him.

Just a quickie tho...

Charging the leisure battery.
Is this done as you drive or do you plug in the mains cable?

Many thanks and any advice is always welcome and heeded

Liam

If the van still has it's original buzzing black box charger (left side as you pick up the R&R seat base) your leisure battery AND starter batteries will be charged whilst on mains AND when the engine is running.
Built in charger charges BOTH batteries when a mains lead is plugged in.
Split charge relay kicks in and charges the leisure when the engine is running (at the same time as charging the starter battery as per normal).

There is lots of 'Wesfalia' specific info in the WIKI ^^^^^^ but you need to be a full member to see everything.
Doesn't cost anything...sign up now.

There is also a Westy specific category on our sister forum 'The Brick Yard'
