Vinyl V Fabric for rock and roll bed

Post by DevonMark »

At some point over the winter we need to recover Victors rock and roll bed foam (at the moment it's a disgusting brown fabric) but I'm unsure whether to go for a vinyl or fabric cover.

Anyone got any thoughts?

Also I'd love to see any photos of interiors for inspiration! We're going for a blue theme, as we think that'll work well with the grey carpet lining.

We are gradually changing what was a panel van, we have r&r bed & got foam, which we have throws over for now while trying to decide how to get it covered, hubby likes vinyl & i like the striped deck chair material. Hubby reckons compromise might be striped vinyl but i havn't drank enough to agree to that yet :D

Stripped vinyl sounds....interesting!

I think vinyl looks really smart, but we also wonder whether it's less cosy than having a fabric cover.

We are having same dilemma after recently getting our new T25...me liking fabric and hubby liking vinyl! I share concerns re: loss of cosyness, so far we've seen vinyl edged fabric 'middle' front seats which may be compromise but being a complete newbie not sure how that works on r & r cover....I will be keeping close eye on thread for any pics put up to gain more insight!

Glad it's not just us having the dilemma! Interesting that it seems that blokes are usually keen for vinyl.

Come on, some of you must be willing to share some pics of your lovely T25 interiors?!

We had the same question but went for vinyl in the end as we have dogs so dog hairs would have been a problem on fabric. And actually, they have turned out to be fine, though we do have a soft cotton fleece undersheet to go over the bed area at night which makes it a good all-round compromise.

Great too if one of you are, errrm, incontinent

Yes, we are going through same and think we are going wipe clean due to the kids. In most of our vans we have had material and it's not long before it smells of damp bacon which is not that cosy really. Double bed liner always good for snugness.

We have young kids too so I will probably have to go with the full vinyl and get fleece blanket for me! Full vinyl does look smart too.

So we have material which will smell of damp bacon Vs vinyl which will smell of sweat....

This isn't getting any easier!
