So there we driving along our merry way when the red light flashes and the needle drops! Drops, what is going on.
The smoke/steam out the back didn't fill me with pleasure at any rate.
Upon inspection we discovered the coolant temperate gauge sensor had popped out - all the coolant had therefore leaked leaving a dry tank. Hopefully no irreparable damage done.
As the problem was identified I'd assume just stick it back in and away we go after a refill... sticking it back it we've discovered after our Haynes consultaion that the O-ring and Spring Clip are nowhere to be found. That explains the popping out in the first place.
Anyone tell me the part number or details of said ring and clip?
Thanks

sender comes with o ring, if you want a o ring on it's own try vw, the size is still the same for the engines (20mm sender)
GSF will also sell the same things

Anybody know if the O-ring is the same for the CTSII on a WBX? After changing the sender on ours, the new one's very wiggly and leaks if you look at it - but fortunately not otherwise. I reckon a new seal would be a wise precaution every time the sender's replaced.

this is the seal part no for the diesel sender N 90316802 If its a 20mm sender and held in with a clip, it'll be the same. I fit a new o ring each time i change a part with one

As an advisory to folks like me who live outside of the 'mainland' Brickwerks are cheap but postage is HUGE! So I had to go to VW Heritage. Parts more expensive but saved it all back and then some in the delivery charges.

It's clipped in, but I haven't got the old one handy to measure. Anybody confirm?
