Roof advice

I have a hi-top (not hi enough), and looking to replace this with a higher one with side windows
Can anyone recommend a company around the Hampshire area (or will travel if have to) who can supply and fit one.

A hi-top is not high enough? Blimey - how much room do you want? Seriously though, I've never seen anything taller than your average hi-top, and anything too much bigger is going to be unstable, and a pig to drive if it's windy. Bet you someone has done it , though.

If you go on the Syncro page, and look for a thread entitled "goodbye old friend", you'll see that hugomonkey is selling a larger than average hi-top. If that's the sort of thing you're after, why not drop him a PM?

about 2.9 metres so not exactly built for greenlaning thats why im going pop-top

Thanks for the reply. That's about the hight Im looking for, my hi-top isn't high enough for my 3yr old to sleep in! Will check them out about replacing mine.

You sure it's not a pop-top that you've forgotten to lift? Seriously - what hightop do you have, that doesn't have space for a 3yo to kip? Our Westy's tight for two adults - downstairs is better - but we could do it if we had to.

If the top isn't high enough, you may have a factory high roof van. As it's name suggests its a high top van, not a camper roof, and so aren't that high. The van is open all the way along to the rear, as opposed to having a fixed bunk section, and there's a pair of cross braces running around the inside of the roof. Holdsworth used them for their conversions.

However, these roofs are mechanically attached to the steel van structure in place of the normal steel roof, so i doubt you'll be able to change it, unless you want to fit the other factory high roof, which was of course the Westfalia roof, as this is attached in exactly the same way, but with taller cross braces.
