changing exhausts

Post by Pilks »

Hi folks
Need some guidance.
I currently have a 2ltr Aircooled egine with a standard exhaust fitted. Into this goes the preheater for the gas, however as the exhaust is on it's last legs I want to change it.

My question is, can I cut down the rod that has been welded into the exhaust so that I could fit a different exhaust onto. (thinking about a twin pack type). does the rod length effect the running of the gas? can it easily be cut?.
I have also left Steve a message at Gasure, but ANY advice in the mean time would be good.

Cheers
dave

No Dave they cannot be cut or bent in any way, it is not a rod but a small heat exchanger with a copper core, the air gap provides its efficient heating to the end boss, any damage to it will result in its not functioning at all.
Phoned you to relay message.
