Filling a westy gas tank in Europe

Post by ninja.turtle007 »

I seem to be using more gas than expected. Although I haven't had a working gauge until now. Level has dropped from 80% to 35% in 10 days. We are using the fridge on full time gas and cooking one meal per day. I can't find any leaks. Is this normal consumption? I fitted a new float, gauge etc before leaving.

I tried to refill today in Croatia and the connection is different. Will any other countries be a direct fit to the tank, like Austria or Germany, or so I need an adaptor?

That consumption is a bit excessive, you should check the whole system (from tank to hob/fridge).
You could just have a thirsty fridge.

If the weather is hot the fridge will use more as it will be running all the time.

Westie gas tank can be filled at most filling stations in Germany without an adaptor.

We have just had three weeks away in the van and have run the fridge on gas along with the hob etc (although not on full time), filled up b4 we left the uk and topped up half way through, as said, fridge does use more if hotter and if on slight slope as we found.
You will need a conncetor for France/Germany for engine lpg http://www.gasure.co.uk/adaptors.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; also on ebay.
When in france i needed the second one from bottom to fill my leisure tank and in germany the bottom one for the engine lpg, but didnt fill the leisure tank so not sure if its needed?
