hi guys i have a problem with a zig cf9b charger
i have only connected the
starter battery earth and live (live with a 25amp inline fuse)
earth
leisure battery live (25amp inline fuse)
earth
everything is ok with the unit switches in the off possition
then all switches work to indicate condition af both batteries
but when i put it from towing to camping both 25amp fuses blow
is the charger kaput?
many thanks

Re: zig cf9b blowing inline 25amp fuses
I'm not familiar with the CF9 but if it works like the CF6 and CF8 (which I reckon it will, my money's on it being just a different fascia) when set to 'touring' both batteries are connected together only; when set to 'camping' only the leisure battery and the camper 12v equipment are connected to the charger; in the 'off' position just the leisure battery and camper 12v equipment are connected together as that's an internal connection. Having said that, the CF6 and CF8 do not have a facility for checking the starter battery charge state.
I'd try having only one battery connected at at time and see what happens. Presumably you have a wiring diagram and don't have the connections higgledy-piggledy?

Re: zig cf9b blowing inline 25amp fuses
all wiring is done from instructions
i connected starter battery and tried it and all ok
then leisure battery and all ok
but when both batteries like the instructions state then it pops the fuses
it is clearly linking both batteries up instead of switching over from one to the other
i could run just the leisure battery as i only really need it for leisure charge and light and stuff
and the van will charge the starter battery
but if the switch is there to swap from one to the other and its supposed to work then i would rather it works.
i know i will forget and then back to square one.
i spoke to the tech guy at zig and he thinks it is no good but they wont give to much away just incase i have them service it at £90 + a cat so my mate has his guys looking at it hopefully they will come up with something.
watch this space.

Re: zig cf9b blowing inline 25amp fuses
I don't have the starter battery connected to mine. It's a pointless connection if you have an independant split charge system elsewhere
Zig are renouned for being a bit coy with their information/tech 'help' - ought to be called 'Zip' in my opinion

i think if i cant sort it i will just leave starter battery off (seems to be causing to many problems)
