Oh dear, it's terminal. Recommend me a new engine

Post by vaguelyfamiliar »

After a week away in cornwall with the family, our bus gave up the ghost 20 miles from home. No warning or dash lights just oily smoke puthering from the back of the van followed by a complete lack of compression. We managed to coast to a halt on the hard shoulder of the M25 to await the very nice man from the RAC.

His verdict was the engine was, and this i believe is a technical term, knackered. It seems that the head gasket had blown firing all the coolant out of the exhaust and cooking the engine.

So any recommendations for engine supply and fit - I'm in Hertfordshire but can hire recovery truck if need be. I'm also open to alternate engine suggestions

**E D I T** 1.9 Petrol (DG I think)

thanks

I've weighed up the pros and cons and decided to go for an engine swap.

The van is heading to TSR engine conversions in the next week or so for a 2l Subaru conversion and a brake upgrade, she should be back with us by the end of October ready for a spot of winter camping :D

Before you do, make sure you do a search on here about them. Could try spanner boy on here too. He's meant to be really good.
