replacing instrument panel

Post by Joju »

Hello, I am looking to replace the instrument panel on our 1.7 diesel.

the connector was corroded by the rain coming in the leaky windscreen (now repaired) and and it was jerry-rigged at a garage on the road.

we are now in germany so it seems a good time to find a replacement, but I have questions:

1 do I need to replace with an identical unit? I know I will need to same warning lights, but the dials? our unit has no rev counter, just a blank second dial. can I put in a rev counter unit, or does this need another cable?

2 can I put our old mileometer in the new unit?

3 is there any help on the wiki for removing and refitting the pod?

would like to hear any helpful advice!

hi mate there is a wiring plug how to in the wiki

you can fit your speedo head, and if you want you can fit a rev counter as well although you may have to run the wire so it reads

hope this helps
