Battery not holding charge
Hi again, The guy i am buying the T25 from told me that the van after about a week the battery loses charge, he has changed the battery, and taken the fuse out from the newly fitted spot lights thinking that this could be the problem, but still it lost charge, he has been told that it may be a lazy starter motor by a mechanic, but he has not changed that as he is just keeping it on trickle charge when not using the van....any ideas from any of you people on here ???

Have you got a fancy modern radio/player
, these will drain the battery in less than a week
.
Its because there is no aux terminal on the ignition switch.
Try disconnecting it, and then leave the battery connected.
See what happens.

Hi thanks for the reply, it looks like it has a CD player, but nothing fancy.....I have purchased one of the solar panel battery chargers ( the small ones that plug into cigarette lighter ) i wonder if this will help ? do you think it should have a leisure battery fitted also ??

Many of us with campers have the I.C.E. wired to the leisure battery.

Find the discharge by using an ameter. Simply disconnect the earth lead placing the ameter between the earth wire and neg battery post.
Now any ready is the discharge.
Open a door to bring on the coutesy light and the amp draw will rise.
150 - 250ma (milliamps) is the norm (for the clock and radio station memory)
Anything substantially higher than this is unexceptable.
Pull out fuses one at a time to find out which circuit is drawing the excess power.
then disconnect individual consumers once you know the ones on that circuit.
be careful not to start the engine at this [point...you will fry the meter.
