fuel pump inlet/outlet to carb??

Post by gregwiththegrin »

Just purchased a new fuel pump

Can someone please confirm which is the inlet and which is the outlet pipe to and from fuel pump?

My fuel pump has 2 inlet/outlet tubes one above the other.

The diagram of the fuel tank in the Haynes manual (page 4A.4, VW Transporter edition, 82-90 petrol... the blue book) seems to show the bottom tube connecting the inlet pipe from the fuel tank and the upper tube connecting to the carb.

However, ive only recently purchased this, my first bus (1.9l caravelle, watercooled, petrol DG) my pipes were connected the other way (bottom tube to the carb?)

Can someone please confirm the correct way round???

Thankyou ever so much :)

Greg

All I can be sure of is that we always seem to connect them the wrong way round, then wonder why the damn thing won't start.

Flip a coin, if it don't start, swap them over, you've got a 50/50 chance of getting it right first time.
