Heating the vapourizer...(Aircooled again)

Post by geordie skydiver »

Hi again,

On normal LPG systems the vapouriser is heated by coolant from the engine, on Aircooled this isn't possible, and exhaust gas is used.

Has anyone used oil to heat it, maybe by having a sandwich plate between oil filter and engine?

Seems simpler than welding a probe into the exhaust.

Any thoughts/ideas?

just a thought...

how long would the oil take to get to the temperature necessary to run the gas....especially in winter? I cold start on gas!

maybe its straight away like the exhaust....but I don't know these things!

cheers

It cant take long, I reckon just a minute or two.

If you start on gas, then there's no reason why an oil warmed vapouriser cant start on gas either...

Only thing is you cant pass your oil throught he vaporiser.. it isnt rated for the pressure on the "coolant" side...

A modern regulator should more than handle the pressures we are talking about.

Anyone have any experience with FES autogas and their water system on Aircooled engines?
