squares in footwell

Post by Sir Brixalot »

Morning all. Can't think of any other way describing them! Under the mat in the drivers side footwell I found lots of squares that have come loose. The footwell itself seems solid. Were these square originally some kind of waterproofing and if so can I still buy it?

If I'm understanding this correctly they may be what's left of the soundproofing layer that's stuck to the cab floor. You should have a similar section stuck to the passenger cab floor too. I assume the squares have been 'cut' out of the section by the underside of the rubber cab mat which has squares shaped reinforcement on the underside. My driver's side soundproof matting has lots of square shaped grooves in it while the passenger side hasn't (presumably because the passenger side is unoccupied most of the time).

If not the actual stuff itself you'll be able to source similar I'd have thought. A bloke who worked on my old van replaced my old sections. Like a huge sticky back rubber pad. Ebay? Halfrauds? I doubt you'll get the OEM bit these days...
