T25 Automatic Gearbox Governor Cover Seized

Post by DjD »

We have a T25 (Vanagon) 1.9cc watercooled with 3 speed auto gearbox 010 / 090 diff

the diff governor cover has seized in situ and cannot be removed - have tried some release fluid and gentle tap with hammer

any suggestions how to loosen the cover

also the pressure test port on the aluminium case of the 010 3 speed transmission cannot be removed - rust disimilar metal problems I guess

any suggestions to loosen both

thanks

My suggestion would be to heat the offending areas of the casings with a blow lamp. Go a bit careful on the aluminium of the tx casing, but usually heat, plus-gas, and patience prevail. The governor cover might well be stuck on with sealer. I gave mine a fair whack from all sides to release it.
