...to the split charger (not a zig unit) and now also the internal light dont work (devon caravelle)....any ideas? I assume its a short in the first instance so how do i find it? Visual inspection is the only way?

It may be an intermittent short so testers may not find it, so eyeballs are a good starting point. look for bubbling in the wiring exposed copper etc. If the wiring disappears into cavities then test for shorts to earth with a continuity meter/ohm (resistance) meter.

The short is consistent - blows fuses everytime! Thanks for the advice. I assume resistance ill drop nearer the short - i have a standard multimetre- will that help me find it?
