Help with westfalia pop top roof

Post by suec »

Hi I have just bought a T25

A 1983 Westfalia, good body and generally great interior. Need some help though - the owner prior to one I bought from stuck a foam backed carpet to the pop top roof. This has been peeled off and left a disgusting looking mess. Very dry, no smell just does not look pleasant.

The pop top is original canvas roof under fibre glass top.

Any advice on how to clean it or what to cover with to hide the mess would be most welcome.

thanks

Could you post a picture up of the area so that we can help you with some ideas as to how to remove it? :ok

You can clean md n mildew with a Milton fluid solution or proprietary cleaner. It's possible to take off the original flock covering and re do it but messy and time consuming probably- anyone done this previously?

Acetone, isnt that nail varnish remover- sounds like its nasty enough for the job! Has anyone recovered the inner roof or even insulated it first then covered? Might be good if u have time n cash to lightly insulate it before re-covering.

Office type self adhesive carpet tiles to cover and provide insulation? Our Westy copy roof has these and sems fine after years of use.
