Automatic gearbox change points

Post by Zebedee »

What are the change points of the automatic gearboxes fitted to wasserboxers?

Or to put it another way, what speed are you travelling at when it changes up into 2nd and 3rd?

To be honest I hardly notice mine changing.
I'll see if I can estimate it next time I'm out.

Cheers

I assumed the workshop manual would have the info in but it doesn't. Strange really as the passat one and type 3 (fast/notch/squareback) ones i have do.

Just borrowed a Bentley manual and the info is in there.

Not sure i 100% understand it. Never driven an auto before. Does that show the maximum speeds in each gear (plus the bit extra if kickdown is used)? I'm assuming they'll change up even at say 1/2 throttle too? :?
