Adding a couple of extra gauges, any ideas?

Post by New Kentish Campers »

As it says above, as my van is nearly finished, I'm thinking about adding a couple of supplimentary gauges, i.e water temp and oil pressure.

I realise that the van has its standard buzzer of doom, etc but what I have read anyway, they are often going off without a real fault being present so I'd rather know exactly whats going on by having extra gauges. At last I can then panic for real :rofl

I know there are digital oil gauges on the market, but are they as accurate as an 'old fashioned' oil pipe to gauge one. I realise that this needs a little pipe to run up from the engine and am happy to do this is if its more accurate.

And has anyone fitted some 'good' gauges and could you tell me who made them please, as there's plethora of manufacturers out there and they are all saying they are the best on the market

Lastly, any ideas on a pod type mount to home them in, has anyone done one so that it looks at home on the dashboard?

Many thanks! :ok

Thank you! I'd not looked in the syncro area  But, it tells me what I need so I'll get cracking!

I have a mechanical gauge, less faff, accurate and trusty.
all you need is avaiable from Demon tweeks

if you are fitting another gauge it would have to be an ammeter and/or a voltmeter...

You mean Oil pressure, with a pipe from engine to dashboard? That's what I planned anyways :)

Thanks for the link to Demon tweeks, I think I'll add that voltmeter too, might as well, in for a penny and all that

Thanks everyone; I'll post an image or two once they are all in and working.

Doug.
