Reverse light switch location...

Post by LeeME3 »

Can't find it in the Wiki (almost certainly me being thick) but does anyone know where the reverse light switch is or the easiest way to tap into it's output? As near the front as possible...it's to trigger a reversing camera to come on.

Thanks

I just tap into the reverse lights themselves - you have to power the camera at the rear anyway. Then you just need to run the video feed forward if you are not using a wireless camera. If it is for viewing a trailer also it would be better to switch it manually then it can be on all the time.

Yeah I'm going to wire it so as it switches on automatically when in reverse but with a manual 'on/off' switch as well. My new stereo head unit incorporates a screen and a power out for the camera but it may be easier to just pick up power at the back as you say.
